I was a bit nervous about the section between Molls Gap and Killarney because it was the main road through the national park, quite narrow, and very curvy. It wasn’t nearly as sketchy as I expected. The drivers here have been much more courteous than in the US, not to mention there are more Mini Coopers on these roads than Ford SuperDuty XXXL pickups 🇺🇸 .

There were some great attractions along the route as I entered town…. #muckrosshouse #muckrossabbey #rosscastle and I had plenty of time so I was able to wander around a bit.

The skies were still looking decent and it was only 1pm so I decided to drop my tail bag at the hotel and pop up #gapofdunloe again since it was pissing rain when I went up on Thursday.  Since today was my last day on the bike and I’m taking a bus to limerick tomorrow, i was particularly keen on finishing the day dry… and luckily it didn’t start raining until we’ll after I’d had a warm shower and packed everything up.

July was the wettest month ever recorded in Ireland. I got pretty lucky and only got soaked once, though also only saw the sun a few times. But this place is a cyclists dream and I can only imagine what it must be like with some more blue skies. I can’t wait to come back and see some more!
